In this case, you get more than what you pay for... Yeah, they feel cheap, they are cheap. But nonethless, and on the light of their price, this phones are quite good. I've tested the Bose QC2 and owned the Sennheiser PXC300 noise-reducing headphones, both well beyond the $100 mark, and even more beyond this Sony's asking price, and that's what makes these a good offer. The Bose is tops, the Sennhaiser are just slightly behind. To tell you the truth, I like the Bose earcups quite a lot and that's what makes the difference for me between those two. Contrary to several other opinions I've just read here, I found this unit's earpads quite comfortable, non-obtrusive and well designed. Maybe I have flat ears or something, but I don't suffer from them. Neither do I suffer from the pressure of the headphones over my head (I have a big head by the way). Granted, I struggled a little trying several adjustments before feeling really comfortable with the set on. What I find a little obtrusive however, is the location of the battery compartment, looks bad, feels bad, and makes you think they put it there as an aftertought. Construction seems adequate, for the price. Some materials seem higher quality than others though. The earpieces feel particularly fragile, but you get a set that's very light. The sound, altough not great, is pleasantly good, specially when the NR circuit is on. I have an old pair of Sony Digital Reference headphones for this kind of tests, since they are some kind of a benchmark from the days when Sony made high quality products. So I put the NC6 through a series of good quality audio sources and the results were surprising. No audiophile, netiher digital reference studio headphones levels here, but a very good, satisfying experience. The bass is powerful but not overriding, the midrange is rich and well balanced, high frequencies just blend in. Now on the NR feature. If you read the specs, the NR circuitry on this model works on the low part of the human hearing spectrum. They do NOT reduce high frecuency noises such as voices, TV, etc. What they do is reduce humming, vibrating, low frequency noises. And they do it well. I tested this on environments with some noisy A/C units, washing machines, seating on an airplane, and the results altough not on par with the costlier units aforementioned, are satisfactory considering what you pay. I could hear music from my iPod with a comfortable volume level on the plane, and enjoy it. This can't be said about most other alternatives in the price range. With the NR circuit on, the source sound gets a little boost, this can hardly be annoying and otherwise can be quite positive since it allows you to lower the source volume level and in the case of battery-hungry hdd-based digital players this can give you a bit more from your battery charge. As with others NR sets, white noise is mixed with the source to provide the "cancelling" part of the equation. Yes, this white noise can be heard on this set, and on any other NR set I've tried. A bit lower on more expensive models, but a perceptible compromise anyway. To some people, this can sound a bit artificial, and it somewhat does, but hey, consider the alternative withstanding a noisy plane cabin, A/C units, and other such environments preventing you from hearing and enjoying your music. If you're evaluating NR for the first time, go with these. They are inexpensive, and will give you an idea of what to expect from better sets. For the price you won't regret it, since you can opt for something up on the model line later and keep these as some kind of an emergency replacement, or keep them at your office, shop, etc. Your non-audiophile kids will probably love them too and they won't be damaging their eardrums prematurely. Accesories include an airplane adapter and a pouch, both standard quality items, no surprises there. The audio cable has what seems to me the correct length, unlike some other sets with miles of cables to worry about. Even better, the cord is single-sided so you don't get to struggle around untangling it. Battery life seems erratic, I got about 35 hrs with a mid volume level using alkalines. Rechargeables are challenging, lasting from 15 to 25 hrs, but when you are running out, the NR feature fades away fast, so keep replacements handy since it gets a bit hard to pinpoint your battery-life expectancy. I give them four stars, they are very good for starters, and for evaluating the technology without making a big investment. amazing for the price. after 8hrs on the plane the past few days, i need to purchase a second pair for my wife. for the price, the performance is amazing. my only complaint (if you can call it one) is after a few hours they seem to press kind of hard on my ears. sound quality is fantastic. works well with my portable dvd player. have 2 more long trips coming up the next few months, Great Headphones I didn't realize over the ear headphones could sound so great. I tried these for the first time on flight to the west coast. They did a great cancelling out the noise on a loud commuter flight and were perfect for the jet flight. I could finally enjoy a movie on my laptop without the constant background noise from the airplane. Bass, midrange and trebble were clear and crisp. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Finally, someone got the clip design right Okay, headphones are a pain in the a$$! Trust me, you need to go through thousands to find the right ones. Let's get on with the review! Sound Quality (4/5) - The sound quality on these is far by good. The bass is very deep, not too deep, but having bass too deep IS a problem (can't hear anything but BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!). If you wanna hear deep bass, put pressure on these. Feel discomfort from the clip and have a headache for the amount of bass. Congrats! You've become an idiot! Anyway, the volume on these is quite loud, but not quite as loud as Sony's h.ear, but the treble is better. Who says you can have it all (if you've ever heard anyone tell you that you can have it all, please hit their head with a shovel)? Comfort (5/5) - Now, if you read the packaging (which contains someone who looks a lot like Jennifer Lopez, btw), it states things about comfort. Well, those are in fact all true. These headphones are VERY comfortable, and at times I can't notice they're on. Definite 5 stars in comfort. Design (3/5) - Ok, design is good and awful. Let me break it down: Good: - The cord is long. Why good: This would be good for people using these for computering, studio monitoring, video/music editing, things that NEED a long cord. - The cord is made with strong plastic. Why good: This would be good for bike or ATV riding. Cords get damaged from being hit with a helmet, or just in the air. This is perfect for that, and other similar rough activities. - The plug is gold plated. Why good: This would be good for most audiophiles and people (freaks) who detail every little thing in every song. Gold plated plugs also seem to be louder than silver plugs. - The hook is a spring hook. Why good: For people with elf ears (pointy ears), this will make it easier to fit on. Bad: - The hook is a spring hook. Why bad: This is the biggest negative of this headphone. The spring hook, makes the speaker go away from the ear, taking out bass and volume that all those audiophiles (and freaks) just love. Why else is this bad: This also make it leak sound. This is a pain for people listening to loud music, which make a little distraction for people sitting next to you (like a bus, or classroom, or a public place). Features (5/5) - Yay! A positive! The features on the w.ear are pretty great. Firstly, the interchangeable covers is a nice touch, and there are blue and silver to choose from. The silver sure looks nice next to my SLCT582V, and the blue would look nice on more colored objects (such as a bright colored CD player, Sony's new PSYC players to be specific). As I said, the spring clip is a big positive and a big negative. So yeah, there may be only two features, but these are headphones, you're not getting a thousand features on them. Portability (5/5) - Ok, pictures mean nothing. Yeah, their "clip design". That's what I like to call advertising. Not all clip designs are slim, but that is what Sony and the picture are making you think. Even though these DO happen to be very slim, fair warning. Anyway, these are very slim. Slimmer than my slim design CD player. So, these are very portable. Price (4/5) - The price for these are surely not a bargain, but they aren't overpriced. The price is set about just right. Most headphones with these features would be also around the $20 mark. Who they might be for: These headphones would be for people who aren't TOO picky about audio quality, but still want decent sound from them. People who might be using them for long periods of time, or have small-normal sized ears. Maybe for people using computers, or for studio monitoring of some such (but you will need to buy an adapter). People may want to consider these for durability, for maybe people doing sports, bike/ATV riding, or other rough activities. These may be good for people who are using these in not-so-public places, but still travel a lot, or even for home usage. These would be good for people who like interchangeable covers and style. In my opinion, these overall deserve 4 stars. They aren't exactly perfect, but they're damn there close. Great for night wear After trying many pairs of headphones, these have been by far the best. I enjoy using these while falling asleep at night. They're super comfortable. I never feel like they're pinching or squishing my ears, yet they stay on nicely. They're very durable. I've broken a few similar designed headphones, but these have held up nicely. They are not noise-cancelling, but that's what I wanted, since I still want to be able to hear other noises. Look Good, Fit Good, Sound Good Earbuds are totally uncomfortable for me, especially since I wear my headphones hours at a time at work. Sony's earhook headphones are the perfect solution - they sit outside the ear but don't have a clumsy plastic bar going across or behind your head. You can switch the caps from metallic blue to silver (Sony also has a pair available from Amazon with a white cord and white or green caps to match the white iPods) and in 2 years I've never had a cap fall off. Personally, I find the fit comfortably snug, not too tight, not so far from your ear you lose sound. But ultimately fit will vary from person to person, ear to ear. The sound itself is good quality - surprisingly so for non-noise cancelling headphones - and amazing for the price! I like the right connected to the left headphone design, making it so the wire hangs behind your neck instead of in a v across your chest. I find this design keeps the wires out of the way while I'm working, (just situate the wire behind your arm/shoulder instead of in front). This is true whether you keep the player in a pocket, or clipped to your collar like I do. It sounds like runners may have a problem with this design though ... One draw back is the long cord - I have to untangle it everytime I put it on. It would be great if Sony could put out a version with a reel to pick up the slack. But still, it's the best practical alternative I've found to earbuds.

About what you'd expect I was looking for some small, lightweight headphones that I could wear while running and working out. Ruled out, of course, were the normal earbuds, which have a tendency to fall out at the gentlest breeze, or at least at the slightest tug or jar. So, to that end, I picked up a pair of Sony MDR-J10 h.ear clips.First, the good. They're very light and reasonably comfortable for something that's sticking just into your ear. No problem. The clips work very well -- no matter how hard I work I can't get them to fall off. It might help that they tend to get tangled in my hair. I personally prefer the clip style to a headband -- this way, there's absolutely nothing to bounce around while you're running. I should also mention that they look very sleek worn. The cable features an adjustable restraint, above the normal fixed thing that marks the beginning of the dual cord, so you'll never have too much cord flying around your neck.Second, the bad. The cord is a bit shorter than I'm used to, but hey, no problem. The sound from these features a whole lot of midrange without a lot of bass or even treble definition. You have to remember, however, that the drivers in these things measure in at like thirteen millimeters, so if you're expecting Sennheiser clarity, you're looking at the wrong headphones.Overall, these earclips are quite satisfactory. They do what they need to do: They stay on no matter what, and they transmit music from your walkman/discman/MP3 player to your ears. If you're looking for headphones to wear while doing active things, then these are great. It needs to be mentioned that, with music playing all up in your eardrums, these things do a startling job at blocking out other noises, so be careful not to jog into a moving van or anything. Safety first! great headphones They have a very sharp, clear sound. I used them to edit my writing on computer, using a program called ReadPlease. It's a great program that reads text back to you. With the earphones, I can work no matter what is going around around me. The wire is very limber, with a rubbery coating instead of more plastic. I have had two pair built along these lines, but the wires are wrapped in plastics covers which made then less flexible, causing them to kink. This soft rubber coating, left you move around without worrying about bending or kinks in the line that could ruin them. The rubber cover wire is virtually tangle free. The ear wrap is very comfortable. On the other two pair, I was aware of their pressure and after long hours of working my ears would be slightly sore. I barely notice these and have not had any lingers soreness as I did with the other two. So for comfort, easy use and prices, this is a good buy. great for running I also have small ears and all the other earplugs would pop out. However, this model actually is great. I do all sorts of activities without them coming out.

Worth the Price I did my research before buying this pair of headphones, and it was well worth it. Besides their comfort, the sound quality is excellent, and their construction is great, too! I've bough many pairs of headphones over the past few years and I've always been dissapointed when the earpads begin to tear off or the plastic coating on the cord begins to fray...not with this pair! Great I wear these a lot , cause I walk dogs for a living. There are three great things about this product. 1. The bass quality is superb, I compared it to my old headset, which I threw out into the highway. It's because there is more airflow allowed to the speaker via three ducts 2. The cord is nylon wound.. yeah. it is not going to strip easily and is really durable. 3. Phillips attached a piece of elastic to give some added 'give' in case of random tugs. It works, and has save me about 7 times in a week. The design is great too, they are comfortable, but not after a LONG time. you wouldn't want them (or any behind the head phones) on a plane. Initially great value, but exposed to more headphones.... Given that these headphones come in at the upper end of the lower price range they sound very good. The higher frequencies are definitely there. The midrange could use a bit more definition. Overall the imaging could be better. Like the reviewer said before me the bass isn't deep as you would expect, but I will in this case let them wear in a little bit before saying that they could use more bass. Definitely better than the Numark and a much better value than the higher price Technics DJ headphones. I must also comment that there is a low white noise distortion that is constantly present. This could be do to an impedance mismatch. I am playing these on a high quality Yamaha receiver and listening to a CD on a Yamaha CD player so go figure. EDIT: The white noise has gone away. I guess the high end on these babies is so good that it will pick up hiss in even alledgely DDD recordings of classical music. Right now these headphones should feel lucky because they are the cheapest ones in my rotation along with the Sennheiser HD-280's, Sony V700's, and Sony 7506's all of which cost much more. EDIT: For home use the Behringer 3000 sound better with flatter response. The Audio Technica ATH-M 40's which I got for a steal and if you can get them as low of a price as I did they would be a much better value than this headphone. For DJ's I don't know. This is still the best headphone for it's price even though I've picked up some coloration in the midrange that has an unpleasant sound sometimes. Nice but could be better... I think this headphones sound great but the quality of sound could be better due to the size of this headphones...more subwoofer i think...also if you wear them for long time its very uncomfortable...but in an overall i think they are really nice

Tried them all--these are the best. I run a digital arts studio and teach digital arts, and have tried more than a dozen different headphones in the $15 to $250 price range. Again and again, I go back to using the MDR-7506 for all applications from digital video shooting and editing to music recording and studio mastering. Most of the pros I know also use the MDR-7506 when they have a choice--and buy them for use at home too. What makes these the best? First and foremost, excellent reproduction from bass into the high end, with unrivalled "punch" and clarity. They are much louder at a given input volume than most headphones, which is important if your are recording in the field and need to hear the headphone monitoring above the ambient sound and the live sound around you. They are comfortable, instantly adjust to different head sizes without any fussing, sturdy and easily repairable, and stowe quickly and easily in the included soft drawstring bag. I do keep a couple of pairs of high-end ($300+) headphones to check as references when mastering music, but honestly I seldom find anything with them that isn't already clear with the 7506es. The only problem I can report is that, even though they invariably outlast other headphones in terms of wear-and-tear, they do get STOLEN more often by my students. Once you get used to the 7506, its hard to go back to using any other headphones that cost less that twice their price. I still dream of someday discovering a comparable headphone set for half or a quarter the price of the MDR7506. Every year, I buy a few $25 or $50 models just out of hope. So far, however, nothing out there qualifies as "acceptable" to me--including the many competing $99 headphone models from other companies and even from Sony. Bottom line: Don't hesitate. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the MDR7506. This is the headphone of choice, the industry standard. The only reason they're so cheap is MARKET VOLUME--Sony sells a lot of these to audio and video pros!! Can't beat the performance for the price These headphones are very much worth the price. I have approximately 20-30 high-end headphones. I have spent as much as $900.00 for the top of the high-end headphones. Each set offers different things that are wonderful. The Sony 7506 is no frills. No leather covered earpads or aluminum fittings. They fit snugly, but not as constrictive as Sennheiser 600 or 650. They do not float on your head like the audiophile Audio-Technica models which are excellent. The earpads fit on the ear rather than surrounding the ear like Audio-Technica. The phones are closed back and achieve a very good seal as to outside noise. As far as sound, I cannot say that they are flat sounding. They have an immediate sound stage. You feel you are on stage with the musicians. There is no sense of separation from the sources of the music. The sound is very joyful and dynamic. They are very easily driven by an Ipod. I have not heard them with a headphone amplifier. I suspect that a headphone amplifier might make them sound overripe if not on the low gain setting. Often times, I prefer an open-backed headphone because it seems to give you a sound that has more space in it. I like the more subtle approach, but these headphones do not seem too close. On a technical note, the headphones appear to be made of plastic rather than lightweight metal. The wires that go to each earcup of the headphones are exposed so that they could be pulled if you do not use them very carefully. One thing you will note from the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 (which is approximately the same price) is that the wires to each of the earcups is hidden inside frame of the headphones. Additionally, I believe (although I am not sure)that the headphone frames of the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 are metal with metal fittings. I cannot comment on how long the Sony headphones will last because I have only owned the 7506 for a month or so. At the same price, you might want to consider the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 or the Grado SR-80. In short, if you are not a fanatical collector of headphones and only want to purchase one pair, this is an excellent choice. By the way, by having more than one set of headphones, you in effect have several different stereos--each sounding rather different than the other. To achieve sound of this caliber from speakers, you would have to spend thousands of dollars to get the quality of sound a listener with good headphones can get from an Ipod featuring huge memory and portability. Lastly, you will not burden everyone around you in your family with having to listen to the same music you are listening to your music. Oh My Gawd is an understatement! This is the first time that I've left a product review of any type, but I just felt that I had to.... I'm not an expert in audio, but I DID get tired of less expensive headphones just not living up to my expectations. These Sony headphones are worth every penny. First, they have plenty of volume - something lesser headphones lack. Sometimes I just wanna ROCK - I want it LOUD. Most headphones dis-appoint on that. So - I bought these because I read a review saying that they had higher volume at lower settings. Not only am I pleased with the volume (even when only connected to my ipod!), but the sound quality is STUNNING. FANTASTIC Bass - You'd SWEAR that there is a sub-woofer operating somewhere, and the highs are all there. VERY impressive dynamic range. Ok - I'll stop being a salesman for Sony. Superb Sound Quality! I was looking to buy a good quality headset to hook up with Yahama P120 digital piano and Onkyo SR702 receiver. Someone recommended this headset to me. The sound quality is superb. SONY has detailed specifications on its dynamic range, response. From my listening experience both from the Yamaha P120 digital piano as well as SACD played from SONY DVPNS775 via ONKYO SR702, the sound from this headset is amazing. I can hear all the details and nuances from piano music, orchestra work. For example, when in the first movement of Rachmaninov No 3, there is a very very "light and sutble" string accompaniment from th violins, I can hear that very very well on this headset. When there is no output from the Onkyo Receiver, there is NO blank noise at all. I was considering to buy Bose QuietComfort II to upgrade my Bose QuietComfort I. I am happy that I bought this SONY. I compared the sound quality of this SONY MDR7509 with Bose QuietComfort I (not II, the new one), the sound quaility of SONY MDR7509 is way way better. The Bose's dynamica range (they do NOT publish it by the way) sounds much much less, much details from the piano and orchestra music is missing and there is a lot of blank noise when there is no output from the Onkyo receiver. The shortcoming of SONY MDR7509 is that it is not as light weight and comfortable as the Bose QuietComfort I(not sure about II) and doesn't actively or eletronically cancels the enviromental noise. I really care about sound quality, SONY is superb in that respect. One big problem I have with Bose is that they do not publish their technical data besides weight and dimension. When you call them to ask their frequency range, noise ratio, selectivity, they won't tell you. Instead they ask you to go their show room to try. In their show room, you will compare their products to nothing. And of course, they will most likely look good. GREAT CANS BUT A TAD EXPENSIVE I love to listen to headphones, and have been doing so since the mid 1960's. These Sony cans sound really nice, they have great seperation, and the dynamic range is quite good. They need to be powered by an amplifier, or receiver, they are not for low power portables, nor computer sound cards. I am listening to some newer country music, Shania Twain's "Come on Over". I recomend listening to female singers because their range is difficult to reproduce faithfully. These Sony's shine in the mid to lower base, and in seperation, but they lack the clarity in the mid highs around 8,000 hz where they tend to be a bit subdued, the highs are also some what muddy, but don't "zing" like my Beyerdynamics do. The other problem with the Sony MDR 7509 is the coiled wire which tends to tug at the phones, the limp wire used by other manufacturers is less obtrusive. The Sony MDR 7509 is a good pair of cans, if one listens to more bass intensive music, like rap, they however lack the clarity of my Sennheiser HD 580'S which are simply a better headphone at 1/2 the cost of the Sony MDR 7509 PRO. Top quality headphones from Sony I purchased these headphones last week and have listened to a lot of both classical music and opera with them; its been a rewarding experience. This unit has a full audio range while at the same time blocking out extraneous noise (however, they aren't a noise reduction unit) You have the feeling of almost like being in a sound proof room; you hear nothing but the music or ambient sounds associated with the orchestra. They were able to pick up some of the more subtle sounds that occur during a performance that you would not pick up from floor mounted speakers. The only niggling complaint I have is that even though the set is circum-aural fitting, I found that they tended to be warm on the ears after about 20-30 minutes of use. This product is expensive, but worth it, i.e. you get what you pay for; in this case, a quality product geared towards audiophiles.

fragile these are delicate headphones I have a pair that broke a couple of weeks after i bought them. the extending adjustment band at each side are easily broken. The drivers are awsome quality however the overall construction is poor not to mention the weight of these headphones is heavy. If you do decide on buying these phones be careful as the adjust band is easyily broken and after one side breaks and you glue it together the extra pressure on the opposite side takes its tole and now you have a broken useless set of expensive headphones. Good sound and nice features but still a poor buy I got these headphones about two years ago on a recommendation from a friend as my Sony v700s were beaten to death from traveling and djing out. I am going back to Sony after this. The sound quality is strong, nice lows and crisp highs. Also has some fun features like a light that blinks to the beat that would always crack people up late at night. Also a nice kill switch for the lows and highs for some Dj's that look for different frequencies when they mix. But the design and sturdiness is just weak. 6 months after I got them the sound just went out on the right ear. They had barley been used. I sent them to Stanton and after about 60 days they came back fixed. And now two years later the plastic head extension just broke off as I took them off in the studio. Great headphones but not durable I am a DJ and I love the sound quality of the headphones. However, they are not durable, I concur with the other reviews. I haven't had these headphones for very long and while recording a mix at home and putting the headphones back on my head the ear phones cracked around the ear cup. Trying to get Stanton to replace product haven't heard anything yet. I hope they stand behind their product.

Great sound quality, but uncomfortable. I've been using the Sony MDR-G42LP Street Style Headphones for years and I've long considered them to be the best low-cost, wrap-around, durable headphones around. They'd last about a year before I broke them or one of the speakers would die (I'm rough with technology). I recently went to replace my dead ones and discovered the new G45s... and I'm disappointed. > The G45s have a significantly smaller speaker than the G42s and this makes it more difficult to place fully in front of the ear (it slides around a lot).* > The G42s were made of thicker, more durable plastic and it's easily noticeable when the G45s wobble around like they could snap with a wrong movement. > The G42s came with ear rests. These don't. A lot of other G42 users feel that the rests were unmanageable, but at least they were removable. These don't even have the slots on the inside if you wanted to put some in. > They're also heavier and the lack of ear rests make them sit heavily on my ears. So in conclusion, try them out. People have different shaped heads and ears and no two experiences will be the same, but be cautioned and make sure you can return it to the seller if unsatisfied. *The size of the speakers doesn't actually impede on the sound quality at all. Sony MDR-G45lp headphones These are durable & high quality headphones which continue to be used in an elementary school computer lab. I like the single cord which can't be 'zipped open', the lack of an in-line volume control and the neckband style. They hold up well even when used by many different K-5 kids... Great headphones, very comfortable, but lacks bass I have been using the Sony MDR-G45LP headphones for about 8 months now and I am very happy with how comfortable and durable they are. I use them while working out and running and they stay put and I can lie in bed with them on and forget that I'm wearing them. Even though they are incredibly lightweight, I have sat on them more than a few times with no repercussions. Sony did a great job of making headphones that stay put without making them feel tight. I used these to replace an older Sony behind-the-neck model and the only thing that has bothered me is that I immediately noticed a reduction in bass from my older headphones, and I am by no means an audiophile. However, for the average day to day use with a portable MP3 player or laptop, these are great. 4/5 stars simply because of the reduced bass.

Sony mdr xb300, Very nice This just seems what I have been waiting for ever since I was a child. What took so damn long?..lol.. The Sony xb300 transmits the best deep bas and offers a very high quality surround sound. They are very lightweight and wear on your head easier than anything on the market. I am very pleased and will recommend this to anyone looking for good deep crystal clear sounds. The only thing I found wrong was that the jack was gold plated and we all know that gold plating doesnt last forever, but like I said before, only time will tell and as for now I am 100% satisfied. I almost feel like I underpaid after listening to those ICE Cube headphones for 300 dollars. The demo was at walmart. DONT FLY WITHOUT THEM THE SONY 300 IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND SOUNDS GOOD. FOR THE PRICE..CANT BEAT IT. Xtra-bad bass The clarity on this set is good, until you max out the volume and start to hear vocals that sound like they're going through a fan. That's the best way I can describe them, otherwise the bass is nicely matched to the mids and highs.. until you start to really turn it up and that wavering sensation starts to happen with the mids and highs. I suspect the larger driver XB500's don't have this problem. That and they sound particularly fatiguing to me on some tracks.. I have overly sensitive ears so you can probably disregard this. The tracks I played that exhibited this problem very easily is Patron Tequila by the Paradiso Girls & An-Ya's Nightlife. I prefer my inaccurate BOSE Around-Ear to these.

Great headphones(despite the price) I bought the S2 headphones with my new S2 CD Walkman, and let me say that these head phones are great! When ever I go skate or go downhill mountain biking and wear these at the same time, they never slip off of my head, they just stay nice and snug around your ears and behind your head. The "behind the neck" band is great because it doesn't mess up your hair. The street style version of the sport inspired S2 Sony line gives it a very urban stylistic look, which we can all appreciate. The bass on this thing is just fantastic, and the sound quality is great. The S2 version of the street style headphones have added extras like reflectors on the headphones so you can safely jog at night time without being runover by a car. These headphones are also waterproof, so water, nor swear can effect the performance of these headphones. The only downside to these headphones is that you can't comfortably wear glasses of sunglasses while wearing these headphones. Other than that, I absolutley love these head phones and I would recommend these to anyone who likes to listen to music while doing something active, as well as anyone who listens to their portable audio players alot. Great sound but can be rather uncomfortable My Mp3 jukebox came with a similar behind-the-neck style headphones that I really liked so I thought I'd try these Sony ones. I can't say enough for the sound quality...for a relatively cheap set of headphones, it's really excellent. However, the headphones were really uncomfortable for me. They were quite tight, but more of a problem was how sore my ears got wearing them. This may be because I wear glasses, or maybe due to my smaller-than-normal ears, I'm not sure. I just haven't had trouble with other similar headphones before. I even tried removing the extra ear grips these have (nice for if you are doing something really active). That did help some, but I still couldn't stand to wear them. I'd recommend them for the sound quality though, just be aware of possible problems with comfort. Hope You Have Cash You should know a couple things before you read this review. One, I'm not a DJ and most likely never will be. I'm just a 15-year-old kid who likes his hip-hop. I'm not sure what difference it makes, other than the single-sided-monitoring feature...after all, regular listeners like good sound, too...but I thought I'd add it, anyway. Also, I've never owned really high-quality headphones until now. Before, all I had was the $20 behing-the-neck kind. So I guess this review is mostly aimed at non-DJs who haven't had expensive headphones before.So the obvious question is, is it worth this much money? I got these as a Christmas gift, but I knew the price. I know sound quality is the type of thing where you pay a lot for a little, but for an extra $130 I expected there to be some pretty noticeable enhancements. There were. You get a more full sound with these than with cheaper kinds. It's clearer and richer. The way the earphones cover your entire ear makes it so you can hear all the details, so it sounds complete. These aren't amazing changes, but they are definite improvements. But the biggest change, of course, is the bass. You don't just hear the bass. You can feel it. It vibrates in your ear. If you take off the headphones and press the earcups together, you can feel them shake with the bass. It gives the music more of a vibe, a kick, an extra level of intensity, whatever you want to call it. I was afraid it would overpower the rest of the music, namely the vocals, but the treble instruments and vocals still come through clear. There's not much of a bad side. My ears hurt from being bent into the headphones sometimes, but that was true with my old ones, and it never bothered me that much, anyway. A slight adjustment fixes it, and you usually can't feel it except when you take the headphones on or off. The only really annoying thing so far is that in some songs the snare drums come out really sharp, so I have to turn the volume down. It seems to have a pretty strong design, so you'll probably be fine if you don't put them under too much stress. Not much of a price to pay. But $150 is a pretty big price to pay. Listening to music on these isn't a spectacular, life-altering experience. It's a noticeable enhancement. But if you take into account that it extends to every single CD in your collection, it's probably worth it. Flawless DJ headphones, but please read further... The 700s are absolutely perfect for hardcore DJ use and in my opinion only second to Pioneer's HDJ-1000s. And please do note that this is not a trivial fact. Everything in them is designed to suit this purpose, and no other. The bass is such a prominent force in them because that's exactly what you need when cueing songs. I've tested them in indoor and outdoor parties and they are invincible. Beatmatching is a pleasure because you can identify the bassy elements of a song with immense accuracy and definition.I personally don't think they are for listening, say, with a portable device or at home with a Hi-Fi. They are way to bassy in their overall delivery of sound. But please don't get me wrong: they are not meant to be used to 5 hours of John Coltrane or Debussy, but they are beautiful to any bass oriented genre and the on-off-on-off environment of DJing. For home/portable use, I strongly recommend the Sony 7506s. They are lightweight, extremely comfortable and have a perfect balance of bass, mids and highs EQ-wise. Every situation has its best headphones. DJing: 700s - Audiophilia: 7506s Great at first, but falls apart. Two years ago, I would have given these earphones 5 stars. I am not an audiophile and I have never tried on super-expensive headphones. I am sure there are better earphones out there. But these sounded great two years ago and still sounds perfect. People rave about these headphones and their praises are all true. BUT..these seemingly great quality earphones are actually not well built. They are made of plastic, so the first place that falls apart is the swivel joint that connects to the cups. Both left and right joints are cracking after two years of use. Luckily, it is still functional even with the cracks. The problem is that it is now a bit looser so it falls off from my head even more frequently. And we all know that these earphones (including the v600) are notorious when it comes to the deterioration of the padding on the ear cups. I just wish that it would last just a bit longer. I have been looking to replace these and I found the new pioneer hdj-1000 to be a possibility. It sounds just as good, it is definitely lighter and stays on the head steadier; and even though the construction is similar in that it is plastic, the swivel joints are built differenly from the V700DJs which makes me think they knew about this SONY's problem and they have found a way to prevent the joints from cracking.

Finally, a way to save your Sony Studio Headphones! Do you have a pair of Sony Studio Headphones? Are they more than a few years old? If so, you have probably discovered the major flaw in their construction, that of the ear pads. Whatever Sony decided to make them from, they deteriorate in a few years no matter how well you take care of them. That is really sad for a product that is as great as these headphone are! I have spent hours searching for a shop to fix my headphones and had zero luck. Sony's answer was to buy new headphones! I know that we are a throw away society, but that is just insane. These are absolutely wonderful Studio grade headphones (if you mix your own music you will definately appreciate the fact that you can use a single side while mixing and have your other ear open). Finally, I found these replacements on Amazon. The description left me just a little nervous that they would actually fit my Sony MDR-V600, but I ordered them anyway. They are PERFECT! The only downside that I can say is that there are no instructions provided with how to remove the old pads and how to install the new pads. Since the old ones were trash anyway, I just experimented and found that the pads are held in a small groove in the headset. The pads have an elastic band that fits into that groove. CAREFULLY start with the widest part of the pad (the top of the earphone) and fit the new pad into the groove. Then, carefully fit the rest of the pad into place. With a little coxing, it will fit in just fine. I really appreciate having my Headphones back in their original condition! You just cannot beat these Sony Headphones for performance and the pads here bring back all of the joy of using them.

Nice and lightweght I use these headphones to watch TV at home while I'm on the treadmill. They're perfect for that use, with an extralong cord, and they're very lightweight. Great Wired Headphones This is my second pair of these wonderful light weight headphones. Wore the first ones out after a couple of years of nightly use. My husband can't sleep with the bedroom TV on and I can't sleep with it off. The headset is super lightweight and comfortable even with my head on my pillow. The extra long cord, which most headsets don't have, allow me to safely run the cord across the floor and it remains flat so no one trips over it. The sound quality is excellent! Worth the price This review is on the Sony MDR-IF240R not MDR-IF240RK, not sure if there's any difference. I needed a wireless headphone for the bedroom because I watch TV over 2 hours every night while my wife sleeps and about 2 hours early in the morning. I've also owned a wireless Sennheiser HDR60 and a wired Panasonic RP-HT970 Vibration Series Headphone. The Sennheiser worked fine, but their rechargeable battery (two included) would only last me about two days. I always had one recharging so I could swap it out, but it was still annoying to have it cut out in the middle of a program. After a year one of the batteries wouldn't hold a charge any more and when I saw how much a replacement battery cost, I decided to buy the Panasonic. Because it was wired, the Panasonic RP-HT970 sounded great, especially the bass effects with DVD's. It was very comfortable and I would still be using it, if I hadn't tripped on the cable and broke it. It had also been an obstacle for my wife when she had to walk across the room.I decided to go wireless again and bought the Sony MDR-IF240R after reading reviews. I wanted a headphone that used standard batteries and wouldn't need constant replacing. I have cordless phones and a wireless PC network, so I decided having no interference using infrared was better than having the ability to go room to room using other technology. Since I only used it for TV viewing, I was willing to accept decent, if not great, sound quality. This headphone met all my requirements. I put in one standard AAA battery instead of the rechargeable battery that came with it and I haven't had to change it in over two weeks of constant use (4 hours/day).The headphones are mostly plastic and look a bit cheap. They are fairly comfortable, but if I tilt my head, they will fall off because the foam cushions are flat rather than cupped like the Sennheiser and the headband is rather flimsy. That would be my biggest complaint. Sony should also have provided a longer cable for the transmitter to allow more flexibility in placement. Sound quality is fine for TV viewing, but it can't compare to the quality of a wired headphone like the Panasonic which makes you feel like you're actually in a movie when played on DVD.I have perfect reception using it at 12 feet and I've walked 45 degrees to the left and right without any loss. If something comes between the headphone and the transmitter, it will cut out, so positioning is very important. You can eliminate the hiss that others have mentioned, if you turn up the volume on the sound source (e.g. TV or Receiver) rather than turning up the volume control on the headphone. Almost. I don't quite get the "24 feet" range but then again all the range I needed and expected was within a standard sized room. The convenience is freedom of movement within the room with decent fidelity to watch late night television or play computer games without distracting others. However the phones have a noticable hiss which is distracting for most music. Also a minor peeve is the plastic bar across the top. The bar is not padded and the phones have built-in springs which force the bar down on the top of your head. Noticably uncomforable for me after a while and I have a full head of hair. The comfort level is okay if you wear the phones draped along the back of your neck (which makes it tough to sit back in a high backed chair or lie down on the couch) or below your jaw (which makes it tough to munch on snacks in that position though). Or you can kludge it to a certain length with some electrical tape. Overall the phones are okay given the price. Just be sure that your expectations match what you are paying. If you want high fidelity and comfort and range, you will be better off paying up for another model. Great for TV watching; wish I'd ordered them sooner These headphones are clearly not intended for listening to music at high quality. But I have been using them to listen to my TV, and am delighted with the ease of setup, ease of use, long battery life, and apparent immunity from interference. You can't use them outside the room, and the sound quality is good but not great. Perfect for TV. Even if obstacles partly block the infrared path, the sound continues uninterrupted. The headphones are comfortable and light, and run for many hours before recharging. I am totally satisfied with the product, and only wish I had ordered something like this years ago!

Directly comparable to Sony 7506 These headphones are almost indistinguishable from the Sony 7506 model, which may well be the most popular headphones in American recording studios. I have both. I think the V600s are lighter weight, so a little more comfy for long sessions, or wearing all day in an office or something.The cord attached to only one side is great. The phones "seal up" really well, with a true closed-back design. If you squeeze the cups shut together, you can just barely hear them, even if it's cranked up to bust your eardrums. This, in spite of the fact that they are plastic. You CANNOT hear the outside world when these phones are at normal levels. When they're cranked up, somebody could be shouting in your face, and you'd think they were lip-syncing.Besides being well-sealed, and loud, these phones give a big, smooth sound that won't give you a headache or have you wondering what you're missing. As another reviewer mentioned, they're very efficient, producing a ton of volume with very little power - and it's volume you can stand, unlike lesser models that will hurt your ears at similar decibel levels.If you're looking for the pro version - it's the 7506, and only available at musical/recording outlets. It allows me to move about a small area in my cubicle without it getting tangled. They are the only headphones I've been able to wear all day long without hurting my head. I'd buy them again, especially at this price. Sony MDR-V600 does not equal MDR-V6 I reckon about half of these reviews were meant for the MDR-V6, based people's description. The MDR-V6 is the one that is comparable to the mdr-7506, NOT the v600. If it werent for the blue "professional" sticker on the mdr-7506, most people would never know the difference between it and the v6. And for the record the MDR-v600 is much bigger and bulkier than both the V6 and the mdr-7502. While it uses similar drivers, It has a huge earcup and large foam paddings that color the sound. Most noticeable is overbearing amount of bass this thing gives out, which drowns out the mids. This would account for some of muddiness that other reviewers have described. So how this headphone got to be called studio monitors is beyond me. This headphone is more like a pair of v6 that was modified to meet the mainstream demands of bassheads. Whreas v6 was half metal/half plastic, the v600 is all plastic. If you want accurate sound, stick with the tried and true Sony models such as the v6 or 7502.

These have worked great for several years... Ive had the Maxell NC II over a couple of years & they are still holding up well. I now use these headphones primarily at home to relax in the recliner while listening to music or taking an undisturbed nap. I originally got them because I was a long haul truck driver & the engine & wind noise was just wearing me out not to mention having to turn the radio up too loud just to hear it. These headphones helped to stop that. The noise canceling feature is effective in reducing the ambient noise around me creating a much more relaxed, stress free environment. At the end of the day I wasnt nearly as tired as when I didnt use the headphones. Im not an audiophile so I cant give you stats & freq #s but I enjoy my music, books on tape & movies more using these headphones. I also like the collapsible, over the ear design. They are comfortable & I havent had any problems with them getting hot after wearing them over an extended time. The battery life is very good, the electrical cord is a good length & the on/off switch is sturdy with a small green light when on. Im going to upgrade to the NC IV for home & keep my NC II for in the car. I like them I have yet to use these headphones on an actual aircraft. So far I've used then to listen to my computer music and find them very acceptable. They are light weight, have a cushioned head piece that rests comfortably on top of the head. I've had them on for about 3 hours so far and they do not bother the top of my thin haired head. They fit comfortably around my ears, the ear phones themselves have a comfortable cushion around them. It dosen't seem to press hard against the side of my head either. It comes with the dual adapter for most commercial aircraft seats. The sound reproduction is fine. I like the fold up ability and the set comes with a travel bag to put them into. I bought my bride the same set. We are planning a 9 hour trip by plane to Spain next year and plan on using these for that purpose. I've noticed on my last plane trip, many passengers wearing them and decided to investigate the various types out there for use. You never know until you actually put them on, how they will feel for an individual. My wife is of small stature and has a smaller head then me. (Haha that sounds funny) Anyway, she found when putting them on as a standard fit, they were large for her size. The head phones are foldable, so by folding one phone into the collaspsible configuration and useing the other in the regular congiguration, she could easily adjust them to fit both ears comfortably and the phones don't slide around the top of the head. Something to consider if you have a smaller head. The price was right at Wal-Mart. Quality does not last. I'm going on my second Maxell NC-II and will be going to buy another earphones not made by Maxell. Their great earphones, but they do not last. I bought my just six months ago, and now they do not work, in another ward "poor quality".

Great for the Price, Most Important: DURABLE I live in NYC and therefore take headphones wherever I go. I bought this pair to replace my normal pair, with the normal lifespan of my "normal pair" generally 3-4 months. These things take a licking and keep on ticking. Going on 7 months now and no signs of wear. Also, the plastic pieces will break apart upon very large impact/pressure, so all you have to do is snap them back in (only happened once). This prevents the plastic from breaking. Others have complained about noise quality, but I don't think that's relevant for this price range, and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary (although I wouldn't call myself a music enthusiast either so go figure). You can do better These headphones can be slightly uncomfortable around the ears. Sometimes the part that loops behind the head is too bulky to sit comfortably while leaning on headrests or to fit under hoodies. I've had these headphones for about 4 months and the sound quality is waning. i can only hear from one earpiece most of the time. So basically, go for a higher quality, more comfortable item! Excellent Headphones! These street style headphones are of excellent quality and great sound. They have no in-line volume control to get in your way, and work perfectly with iPods. They are also very comfortable and fit perfectly behind the ears. Perfect, reliable little headphones!

Sit close to your Computer Headphones work great, comfortable, good sound quality, but wish the phone leads just came out of one side, another drawback, depending on whether you're are right on top of your PC or not, the overall cord length is too short, only 40" long. There are better choices out there. I have similarly priced headphones that have a 98" cord, and it comes out of only one side of the phones. I would recommend shopping around if this cord length may be an issue for you. Extension leads may be purchased, but cost almost as much as the headphones themselves! Luckily I had an old extension lead. Sorry SONY. A die hard SONY fan nevertheless. Quite satisfactory - full bass - good clarity Back in the 1980's I purchased an Awia portable stereo cassette player (walkman) based on it's superior sound (at least compared to others that were offered at the time). I was still using the headset that came with that stereo until a couple days ago when the left side quit. I was very satisfied with the sound as I thought it was well balanced and natural. For a replacement I wanted something that sounded similar to what I was used to hearing. Having been out of the market for 20 years, I had no idea what the new headsets were like. I tried an in the canal type headset and was disappointed in the lack of bass response (comapred to what I was used to). So I decided to try a headphone that was more like the Awia with the open speakers. Sony kept appearing as a highly regarded brand. I wasn't looking for audiophile quality - I probably can't hear that well any more anyway - I just wanted good and cheap. This Sony headset should fit the bill for me. It is a little fuller in the bass than I am used to, but the clarity is considerably better. I described my old Awia headset as being balanced and natural - like a concert hall - and not in need of an equalizer. In comparison I think I would describe this Sony headphone as full and clear, like a studio - more like listening through an enclosed headphone than an open headphone. It's not quite like my old headphones, but quite satisfactory. I think if you like a full bass response you will like this headphone set. I don't feel as though these are going to fall off my head - actually they are quite tight and I am going to see if I can relax the headband a bit. Good Value, But These adjustable headphones have good sound quality and are a good value for the money, but even though I am an adult, I have a small head. These headphones do not collapse down far enough to fit my head snugly. In order to make them to fit, I had to pad the headband so they would not slip down below my ears.

Great value, given the new pricetag This is a review based on the $20 I paid and the $30 that these are now going for. First, let me tell you that I have a lot of experience with excellent headphones in this price range. I own or have owned the Sennheiser PX100, Sennheiser EC 150, grado Sr60, igrado, AKG K81dj, Bose Triport (older version). I also own several in ear models such as the Ultimate Ears Super fi 5pro, Denon C-700, Shure E500, Etymotic ER6i, and some ear canal models such as the Sennheiser CX 300, Beyerdynamic DTX 50, Crossroads Mylar X3, Sony EX51, and the bose triport earbuds. Of course, the best sounding item I own is not the Sony Altus model, it is hands down the Shure E500, but for $20-30 these Sony's are an absolute Gem. Yeah, I can see how other reviewers may have had problems with the build quality. The plastic is a bit flimsy that connects the earcups to the headband, and also when you adjust the headband up and down to get a fit, it seems a bit less durable than the typical sliding mechanism. Keeping this in mind, doing this with care and being gentle may prove to be important for the life of the product. These limitations may be significant if you are known to beat up your equimpent, or toss them in a backpack with a lot of heavy crap like school books, etc. Onto the sound. I personally like the sound signature of these cans. The mids are forward and involving, great for Jazz and classical music, as well as vocals. Highs are sharp and decent at worst. The low end response is deep but doesn't thump artificially with authority as bassheads may prefer, but the way these are designed it helps combat listening fatigue. I would say that these are very comfortable headphones, A close second to only my bose triports (the full sized headphones, not the earbuds). I also think these sound better across more genres, and also the relatively short, SINGLE SIDED cord makes them highly portable. Nevermind the open closed switch. Its a big gimmacky, and doesn't make a tremendous impact either way. Regardless of how you set the switch on each side, the sound is quite good, and I'm willing to wajor you will not find a more comfortable full sized $30 headphone with this type of refined sound. Im wondering if the headband breaks if these earcups will fit into a grado sr60 headband or a bose triport headband. Comfort ant fit: As I mentioned, these are quite comfortable. I have normal sized ears, and my ears fit within the cushions which is important not only for the seal, but also to get the intended soundstage of the can. Overall though, the feel is quite luxurious and sony clearly did design these with the intent of competing with the Bose triport model. These are not Active noise cancelling headphones, but block out a fair amount of ambient sounds when you have your music playing. They sound great out of my 6G ipod classic and I highly recommend them if you're looking for a full sized can with comfort and a nice, involving, warm sound signature and you are capable of taking care of your gear. A more durable portable solution for a few extra dollars would be the PX100, but those are open backed and leak lots of sound. If you are considering the bose triports (either the supra-aural or circum-aural designs) these are well worth the look, at 1/5 or 1/6 of the price! Balanced freq. response, DEEP bass, crystal clear, but not sturdy build Ok, first off: Why do people complain about the bass response on the MDR-777's? These babies have DEEP bass response - but they are not bass-heavy (IOW: perfect). Frequency response is balanced across the entire spectrum, from sub-bass to cymbal sizzle. Midrange is particularly nice - vocals, sax, piano are gorgeous. I was shocked at how much better these sound than my old headphones. CAUTION: These headphones will expose weaknesses in what you thought were perfect recordings. I mark that in the "benefits" column myself ;-) I agree that the 777's appear flimsy. Sit on 'em once, and you're buying a new pair. Comfort is OK, not great. I like the oval ear cup design; but I guess my ears are bigger than the designers planned for. 2-3 hours is about all I can comfortably manage with these. FWIW: Even my venerable AKG K240DF's are sometimes uncomfortable after several hours. Overall sound quality of the 777's is fantastic. If you're a jazz or classical lover, buy without hesitation. My musical tastes include dub, electro and other bass-heavy genres, and so far, I'm very impressed - the bass response is bottomless. I love the sound of these headphones! Clear sound sub par bass (lows) I have had this product for only a few hours. I purchased the Sony MDR-NC6 headphones between 1.5 to 2 years ago and the sound that I received was above par. It was mostly noticable on the low side. However, these headphones seem to be better suited for classical music lovers. If you are looking to experience the full spectrum or a full range of sound, these headphones are not for you. Pros: Good mid and high level sounds Nice tight fit Works great as earmuffs Really keeps out unwanted sounds Cons: Open close switches do not seem to make a noticeable difference as far as I can tell Low (bass) sounds are not the best Overall: Good earmuffs with speakers but at a high price. Great Sound! For the price, these can't be beat! I anticipated good sound coming out of our regular stereo system, but the fact that these give great sound from an ordinary portable CD player is a plus. Couldn't be happier! Great Sound, Extremely Comfortable These are awesome headphones that can easily handle all the output of any portable device. There is a fair amount of sound deadening on these headphones for i can barely makeout what people say when the volume is off, but when the using at high volume sounds and lyrics are audible across my small dormroom. These are easily the most comfortable over ear headphones i've ever tried. They play smoothly throughout the entire frequency range playing anything i listen to such hip-hop, pop, rock, and classical. These are full-size over-ear headphones but effectively do what they are intended to do. They also seem to be holding up well but i've only had them for a month in which they've been used daily. Very Pleased I have been using poor headphones for awhile, so I decided to go out and buy a half-decent pair of cans. For the $.. range, the Sony's are very nice. They have a good padding design in the phones that keeps them extremely comfortable. Sound quality is soooooo nice compared to my old P.O.S. phones... I tried out some Sennheiser HD500's along with another Sony pair and these and comfort wise and sounds wise these are just great. Also, they do get very loud compared with the HD500's who didn't get even 75% of the volume of these phones. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a semi-budget who wants a comfortable pair of phones.

Technical Explanation and Spec Review It seems from a lot of the reviews on here, that people don't quite understand the specs behind headphones which are crucial to its sound. A lot of people are comparing these headphones to iPod earbuds and saying that it sounds like something is missing. Here's why: The technical specs for iPod earbuds: Bandwidth response-20Hz to 20,000Hz Impedance-32ohms The technical specs for MDR-V150s: Bandwidth response-18Hz to 22000Hz Impedance-24ohms For those of you who don't understand the numbers, it means that the MDR-V150s have a broader range of sound, but the iPod earbuds pack a bigger sound. This is precisely why you think something is missing. If you listen to iPod earbuds over a long time, your ears become accustomed to really loud, albeit a small range, sound. This is also why iPod earbuds are known for causing serious harm to your ears over prolonged periods of use. For it to sound right, you have to use the full amount of power, which the earbuds provide. Your close-range hearing becomes damaged over time and you can't hear subtle sounds or details, but you can still detect low volume. The earbuds won't sound deafening because you can still hear outside noise. The MDR-V150s have a larger range of sound and lower impedance. That means there is a much richer sound. You don't need to jack up the volume to get a good listen (but you do need your hearing intact). You also may not be used to the larger range of sound so the range of sound you're used to will sound drowned out at close range. Many of the comments complaining about this transition from earbuds are noting that staples of their music listening sound strangely undetailed on the MDR-V150s. High levels of bass have a way of "drowning" out treble sounds if you're not used to listening to music with ample bass at close range. Another major difference is that since these are "on-ear" headphones instead of "in-ear" buds, you have much less outside noise interfering with listening. It's like the difference between listening to a car stereo with the windows up or the windows down. You have to listen to things louder if there's more outside noise and you can't notice as many details either. There is a reason cellphone handsets for the car use earbuds instead of headphones, and that's so you can still hear the road. Why would you want to use earbuds that are intentionally designed so you can still hear your surroundings but compensate for it by deafening you? I work a lot with sound whether it's production, music, or art and I use these as portable stereo phones because of their quality and sound range. I use them with my iPod with the long cord tucked into my case's belt clip. They are incredibly affordable for their quality. Most comparable headphones cost at least $30. I have been using these headphones since freshman year of college when I was first exposed to them in my school's sound lab. My opinion aside, the manufacturer specs speak for themselves and it's hard to imagine that iPod earbud fans really believe that these provide less sound when physically they have a much broader range of sound and do not permanently damage your ears. As for the tightness, it's good. It'll keep the phones pressed against your ears. The padding coupled with the tightness is what keeps as much outside noise sealed out. The more noise cancellation you can get, the better the sound. And for the hair complaint: you could always tie up your hair or give up on headphones with plastic size adjusters. The plastic size adjusters were just designed to snag hair, so it seems. The best headphones I've ever owned I'm not a connoisseur of headphones, and quite honestly I don't think I've even paid much more than $20 for a pair of headphones. And maybe because of this, I've never owned a set of headphones that I was totally happy with until now. These are by far the best headphones I've even bought, and I was just floored by how good some of my favorites sound on these headphones. I just hear so much more. I hesitated to buy these since so many people on Amazon complained about the feel of these headphones saying they pinched. Well, they are bigger than what I'm used to - a little bulky maybe - but I found them really pretty comfortable. Also, because they fit a little tighter, they seem to block out a lot more noise, which make them great for the gym or walking down a busy street. Great on the ears but tight on the head I bought my set from Wal-Mart. The sound is excellent with deep full bass and clear higher frequencies. Much better sound than the foam ambient noise type. My main concern was that the headphones are TIGHT on the ears. The cups (as noted by other reviewers) do not cup the ears, but rather sit on and press directly against the ears. Great sound or not, after half and hour or so of listening I would actually have a headache from the ear pressure. I gave these away and found a set of headphones at Radio Shack that sounds just as good and has a large enough cup to totally enclose the ears. After 3 or 5 hours these are still comfortable.

Very good sound quality, low price, get them COMFORT: When I first put them on, wow, they fit very well and sealed very good. I rate comfort 9/10. -1 point because if I wear them for 6-8 hours, the top back part of my ear presses slightly against the hard inside part of the ear cups, not really a big problem. I can fix this somewhat by changing the position of the ear cups on my ears. That's the only bad part about the comfort. You won't notice it until after a few hours of use. SOUND QUALITY: Overall frequency response is about flat. And just enough bass that it doesn't sound lacking, but not too much, just the right amount. You can listen to these for a long time and fall asleep without being fatigued from the sound. TREBLE: I tested the headphones on my computer frequency generator. There was a very slight, hardly noticeable (1-2dB) peak at 2.5kHz (the driver resonance), and another peak of about the same amount at 7kHz (natural resonance of the ear canal). I used the equalizer in winamp for flattest sound, but later after listening to music while switching it on and off, decided that the difference in sound quality was so small that I didn't need to use an equalizer. The overall sound has a kind of mellow sound to the treble, like a low wide peak from 400-2000, it doesn't sound perfectly flat. BASS: The bass extends to about 30Hz (-3dB point), while sounding more full and effortless at 40Hz. If they're played below 40Hz, the bass has some odd harmonic distortion starting from 35Hz and a lot more below that. (This is because the Sound Mode valve does not completely cover the bass port inside the ear cups). The bass below 32Hz can still be heard, but with little of the fundamental frequency and most of the odd order harmonics. The lowest audible frequency these can play is 27Hz. (My Koss EarPlug earphones can audibly play to 10Hz.) This is the only bad thing about the bass extension, but only for people that play super loud, super deep bass. When some bass is played at low volume, you can't hear much below 60Hz. This is how it's been with every hedphone i've had. It's normal. OTHER: The headphones have a switch at the bottom of the ear cups labeled 'Sound Mode'. All this switch does is cover (not completely) or uncover the bass port inside the ear cups. Music Mode covers the bass port for less bass boost, and Movie Mode uncovers it, adding only a slight about of bass, hardly noticeable. If you're using these as studio monitors, you'll want to have the switch set to Music Mode. One more thing is about the cord. It's very long (11.66 feet long!! I measured it :D ). Longest headphone cord I've ever known. You'll have no problem walking from one side of the room to the other without unplugging or taking off the headphones. Being so long, it does get tangled when you put away the headphones. The simple solution is to just wrap the wire into a coil and tie it with a twisty tie, simple. These are ok at blocking outside noise, while still being able to hear someone talk to you. These headphones have a rated power handling capacity of 1500mW. With a sensitivity of 102dB/mW and a maximum power handling of 1500mW, these can get up to 135dB in you ears. These headphones have Long Stroke drivers. All my other headphones distort when i turn them up very loud with a lot of bass, but these headphones can take a lot of bass without distorting (clicking sound of the driver diaphragm hitting the plastic). OVERALL RATING: I rate these headphones 9/10, excellent, but not perfect. I recommend these to anyone, even professionals. These are professional quality studio monitor headphones. You can't go wrong with these. Super value. Get them, you will not be disappointed. Best earphones for eyeglass wearers This review is aimed at those with eyeglasses and whose ears get pinched between the eyeglass arms and the earphones. I do not like to block up my ears with ear plugs all day for health concerns. I have bought and used these: Sony MDR-CD230 Sony MDR-V6 Sony MDR-XD200 My ears are not real fussy on quality, nearly all headphones give my ears a problem by pressing them against my eyeglass arms and this hurts, usually after 10-20 minutes of listening. My hatsize if about 7.25, my ears are pretty normal in size, I am middle aged. All three of these headphones I own are the best I have tried on or read reviews by eyeglass wearers over past 2 years. Headphones have a left and right side - the cord typically is attached to the left side, and the ear spaces, or cups, are oriented accordingly, to that the back of the ear lobe has more space to sit in than the front of the ear lobe. The sideways pressure (how hard they clamp onto your head) also is a secondary factor in whether my ears hurt. I wear wireframe glasses, and my use for headphones is background music while I program. $30 The CD230 is no longer available, that I could find (Fall 2006), and I've used them for 5 years. They hurt my ears after 3-4 hours of continual use, but are good before that. They have cloth covered ear cushions, and relatively deep ear lobe spaces. This feature in all earphone seems to be the primary feature that determines whether my ears hurt or not. If you can find these, and like cloth covered headphones, you won't be unhappy. The sideways pressure is light for me. $64 The V6 stands out for 2 things - richness and accuracy of the sound and blocking out outside office noises. Listening to classical music, not real loud, a co-worker can speak to my face and his voice is muffled pretty well. (Women's voices too). Overheard conversations are not overheard. I have used these occaisionally for a couple months and my ears/head get sore after 1-2 hours. The sideways pressure is noticeably more than the other two, but not excessive. They are well cushioned, with soft fake thin leather-like vinyl which I did not find causes sweating at all. But there is not a large space for the ear lobes to sit, and this is what causes pressure after a while to build up uncomfortably I am sure. If I did not have my eyeglasses on, then these are very comfortable. $26 The XD200 is a little lighter than the V6, it does not block out outside noises as well, which can be a benefit in the office because I can hear co-workers calling my name. The sideways pressure is light, the cushion is the same thickneess as the V6 but the ear space is much deeper for the earlobe, so for this reason it is the most comfortable of all headphones I've owned or tried. The cushions are covered in the thin leather-like vinyl like the V6 - this stuff feels like a paper much more than a plastic, it feels dry, not clammy. To my unprofessional ears the sound is great. If you wear eyeglasses, don't want to use ear plugs for hours at a stretch, then I think you will be happiest with the Sony MDR-XD200 headphones. Great Sound Quality, and very comfortable. A few drawbacks though The Sony MDR XD200 is one of those headphones that look expensive and work expensive but are very affordable. This set is very good-looking, and not just the pictures, but also when its lying on your desk or somewhere else. Sadly the same cannot be said if its on your head, because frankly, these headphones are HUGE. take a look at the customer pictures at the top and one of them has a person wearing them with a slightly skewed profile. Those accurately reflect the size of these headphones. I would not recommend these if you are an active person who wants headphones for outdoor use or indoor treadmill use or something like that. But frankly, if that is your primary purpose, why would you use circumaural headphones in the first place? lol However, if you plan to use these on ur iPods and mp3 players and just listening to music or watching movies on your computer, like basically sedentary activites, maybe even the occasional subway ride (if you dont mind the unavoidable stares from fellow passengers), then these are the headphones to buy. They provide perfectly awesome sound that the in-ear and other tiny appendages-also-called-earphones would supply. These are possibly the most comfortable things I have ever put on my head...maybe not counting the sweater hat my grandma made when I was 10. Seriously, these headphones are very comfortable and designed for extended use, although I did experience some heating up of my ear after 4 hours of continuous use, but thats just because these cups provide good insulation as well. There you go, a nice new set of ear muffs for the chilly winters. These look big and bulky but they are extremely light. This might have to do with the predominantly plastic bodyparts, but if you do not intend to use this as a rugby ball, I think these headphones will last a while. very soft earpads, so dont poke them or scratch them or anything. They are really comfortable and squishy. Ok, enough about the comfort part. The cord is 10 feet long. Which could mean a noose to hang yourself with, or a very convenient extension if you want to lay back and watch TV or something on your couch. As I said before, these arent primarily designed for portable use, so it would suit you to use a rubber-band or a flexible metal strip and tie together as much cord as you want. I reduced mine from 10 ft to about 2 and a half feet, and I am perfectly happy with them. Hmm...lets see, what else? I bought mine for $24. Watch out for offers and discounts and such that make these really affordable. I would say it would really appeal to budding music aficionados who need an affordable monitor headphone pair. Although if you take them out on the street or on the subway, be prepared to warrant second-looks and be the center of attention and quite possibly, admiration.

Cool design, but disappointing sound quality PROS: + Cool design. + Very comfortable. The headphones' designer, Jun Komiyama, said that the huge ear cushions were inspired by "a puffy, luxurious, huge sofa," and while your ears get a bit hot in there, the cushions are ultra comfy. + Very light. Only 6.5 ounces. + The flat Y-cord cable is a nice design element. The cable doesn't get tangled easily. CONS: - Mediocre sound quality. These are XB (extra bass) headphones and the bass, although pretty overwhelming, sounds decent. The problem is the overall sound quality. It sounds muffled and lacking in refinement. I have owned Grados, Denons, and Sonys in the past and the XB500's sound quality is dramatically inferior. These work best for club music, techno, some hip hop and some rock, but I still prefer those genres on better cans. Classical, jazz, and lots of other styles sound pretty murky. - Sound leakage. Sony promotes the XB500 on their website with, "Sound leakage and a loss in audio quality are minimized thanks to a sealed acoustic design." Wellll, yes, they're sealed headphones, but the problems is that there are small vent holes in the back of the earpieces that let sound escape. So, if you want a headphones to use in the library, that won't disturb people sitting next to you, or you share a room, the XB500s aren't your headphone. I have read that these vents are "bass-reflex ports" that reinforce the bass, so if you covered them up (with duct tape or something) the sound would probably get worse. - thin fabric covering. The top of the head bar is covered with a very thin fabric that seems easy to rip. In sum, I was disappointed by the XB500s. They may be OKAY for $60, but I wish Sony has used better parts and sold this headphone for a bit more. Then they truly could have been something special. If you want better sound and lower leakage with similar comfort, I recommend the Denon 1001. It's more expensive, and in a way it's unfair to compare, but for a product you plan to use for years, it's a worthwhile investment. It may be worth checking out the Sony MDR-XB700, which is bigger and heavier than the XB500 but has better audio components. Fantastic headphones, just need an equalizer I recently bought these headphones and have nothing but good things to say about them. I am a hobbyist with a home studio, and I am familiar with a wide range of headphones including more expensive Sony headphones, AKG K99s, and Audio Technica ATHm20s. It is my opinion that the xb500s are actually more capable than ANY of these headphones, but there is a catch. What some of the other reviews say is true. If you just plug them in and start listening, the bass does overwhelm the higher treble frequencies. But all you need to do this is use a simple graphic equalizer. Raise the treble frequencies, and these headphones, in my opinion, sound better than any in their price range. They even sound better than some more expensive headphones. I also find them to be very stylish and comfortable. I have a large head with large ears, and these headphones do not hurt my head even after an album's worth of listening. The large soft pillow like pads do make my ears a little warm, but not unbearably hot. They do about as good a job as other closed back headphones at isolating audio from outside ambient noise. In conclusion, I think these are fantastic headphones if you'll just take a second to play around with the EQ to get things balanced out right. Once optimized, they perform as good or better than any in their class. Good Bass, and the treble ain't bad I hadn't purchased headphones in thirty years. I picked Sony because it is a name I know and trust. I am not ready to spend hundreds of dollars like an audiophile, and the price is right. I even got an amazon rebate that I used for music. The sound is great, and they plug right into my audio outlet of my MacBookPro. Sound doesn't leak past the earpieces, either.

Why does my head hurt? Ok, maybe i have a big head. And i think i do, but when i first wore the headphones the rim was hurting the side of my head, i tried adjusting it but still, pressure was being applied above my ears. Now i have to buy new ones (because i as stupid as i am thru away the packaging) or go back to my old sony's. Not to mention that the chrome tip at the end looks kinds stupid. They were pretty light, and had good sound quality. If you have a small head, go for them. ^_^ torture device? Buy these if you never want to where them. They hurt. Get the previous version, more comfortable MDRG56V model while sellers still have them. it's good for my use had it for many months now. I use it exclusively for jogging or biking. Likes: It's stylish. the volume control is a good idea holds tight for running. Dislikes: hurts your ear if you wear for long time. doesn't exactly stay around my ear. I try to make it so that no air can blow into my ear but it moves. overall I like it for jogging, because I can't find everything that will allow me to run with it. if you use one of those really expensive headphones that go into your ear, you will hear your heavy heart beat when you run. Saw it on sale at amazon from WhoSave. Good deal.

record eng. Used these to do a remix on a master recording..after wearing these all day & into the night, I was never so impressed by a pair of headphones. I belive I could do a complete finial edit & mix with these as the only source and be happy with the outcome. I never, NEVER thought I'd ever be able to say that about a pair of cans/head-phones, & I've been in audio for nearly 20 years. Big bottom Have been using Sony's 7506 for live church sound. Got these for monitoring during recording. Low end is incredible. I had to buy a second pair for our drummer once he heard them. Upper midrange is also a little smoother than the 7506s. They are bigger and bulkier than the 7506s, but that helps isolation when trying to record live sound. Crystal-clear sound These are the best headphones I've ever heard for professional music recording and editing. We like them so much we have three pairs. While the 7506s are really good, when I put these on I gasped at the difference--they're that much clearer. These might be too costly for lower-end use, but for classical music recording, with its wide dynamic range and huge frequency range, these cans offer superb performance.

Good budget DJ-style headphones PROS: Solid bass, well-defined midrange, and decent treble (see CONS). Good, squishy padding on the headband and on the earpieces (these are supra-aural, by the way...they don't make that quite clear in the product description). Decent attenuation of external ambient sound, considering these are supra-aural. Though its frame is entirely plastic, these cans seems sturdy enough to last awhile, provided you take good care of them. 24K Gold-plated connectors (3.5mm with 1/4 in adapter). Foldable design is very convenient for storage & transport. CONS: Treble is not the clearest I've heard, especially at higher volumes, but certainly not terrible. I would say about 3.5/5. These cans do leak quite a bit of sound. Because they are supra-aural (they don't surround your ears), there sound attenuation could be better. Though they do seem fairly sturdy, I'm not sure how well they would stand up to night-in night-out DJ use. If your a serious DJ (I'm not, BTW), you'd probably do better spending a little more on a sturdier pair to serve as your main pair. These would probably function well as a practice pair. Cable is not detachable (though at this price, I wouldn't expect it to be). Overall, considering their price, I would call these very good headphones. They drive equally well on portable devices as well as larger equipment. You do get what you pay for. These cans are by no means the best you will find. Pay a little bit more and you will get much better headphones. But for the asking price, you'd be hard pressed to find much better than these. Also, in case you didn't know, Technics is part of Panasonic (whose products I have always liked), so these are not a cheap off-brand that produces crap. These are very good solid DJ-style headphones for the price. Quality sound with the SA1000...but a few concerns A good set of headphones from Sony. The Pros This product has a full sound spectrum with realistic reproduction of classical music. The headphones cushions rest on the head instead of the ears, making the unit reasonably comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The Cons The price; In Canada $299.00 from the Sony store The unit, although not heavy, is big and clunky and because of its size tends to be moved around a bit by pillows or cushions when used while lying down on a sofa. All in all a quality sound product but pricey and somewhat cumbersome. 3 1/2 stars. Get Real Yes I agree these should not be labeled "DJ" headphones. I think that that is misleading. At the same time I do not believe that giving these 1* just because of durability in a "DJ" environment helps others. Those of you who have bought these primarily on that basis are poor consumers. Do your research FIRST. Also evaluations by those with tinker toy audio setups does not help. These are very fine headphones for the price / performance and when driven by a decent source produce very accurate sound reproduction. As for the lack in the low end range this is somewhat true, but it is very tight and accurate (I think allot of people do not know what a real low end should sound like, they are accustomed the boomy / sloppy low end produced by cheap equipment). So here is my recommendation: 1) If you have decent audio equipment (a quality dedicated headphone amplifier and good source) these perform very well. 2) These are an "Open Air" design. This design is used to increse the quality of the sound, but also allows exerior sounds in and some sound produced by the unit out. If this is important to you do not buy these, get a "closed / sealed" design. 3) These are for home use. Do not buy them for travel or DJ use. 4) Replace the original cable with a high end cable (makes these sound much better) 5) The price / performance ratio these are hard to beat. 6) Everyone has there own tastes preview / research before you buy! 7) If you have low end equipment buy to match what you have. These are fairly efficient at 70ohms, but if you are using an IPOD get 32 Ohm headphones or buy a headphone amplifier. Hope this was helpful.... An Excellent Choice I really wanted a good pair of headphones. I shopped everywhere & did a lot of research. I ended up buying these headphones through Amazon. I am very happy with them. A couple of points: 1) As another reviewer mentioned, the headphones do make a clicking noise when you move. I looked at them for a while and figured out that the noise comes from the joints connecting the yoke from the headband to the earphones. They are simple hinges, so I decided to lubricate them the same way you would lubricate a door hinge. You can take a paper clip or toothpick and apply a small amount of Vaseline to each hinge (there are 3 on each side). Just use a little with each application (making sure you remove the excess). After about 3 applications over a couple of days the clicking noise is gone (you may have to reapply occasionally); & 2) You are probably more interested in is the sound quality. The sound is easily comparable to the Klipsch Cornwalls I normally listen to, without the complaints from the neighbors

Good for some purposes I've been using these headphones for a while and have been very pleased so far. First the battery life is outstanding. I used the headphones for over a year before the batteries ran out. Others have complained about the fit but I guess I'm lucky in that they don't bother me. There is some hiss when you turn them on and I wouldn't recommend them for quiet listening. In airplanes and on the subway however I have found the headphones to work very well in cancelling noise and the hiss is really not a factor. Sometimes high pitched noise like voices or loud headphones feel like they are amplified. Overall, for subway/bus/plane listening these are a good deal and I recommend them. The Aiwa HP-CN6 Noise Canceling, Over-The-Ear, Headphones was made with precision and great attention to the needs of consumers. Having owned the Bose Headphones for over one year, I allowed my Sister to borrow them for a long flight she had to New York. It was a Non-Stop and she was wanting to rest peacefully. So I gave her my Bose Headphones and off she went. Since she enjoyed them so much, I passed them onto her and told her to just enjoy them. I tried going without a good set of headphones and finally decided that I HAD to purchase a quality set of headphones and needed them soon. I went online and did a great deal of research. In many cases, so many reviewers focused on the Bose-likely because of their large advertising budget. But if you think of it-it can't be too complex to put together a high quality headphone at a reasonable price. What I immediatelty discovered what that Bose had some competition from a company called Aiwa. Wherever I looked, in my need to find additional technical reviews, I would seem to find the AIWA HP-CN6 Noise-Canceling Headphones. I could not believe that they were priced so affordably so I research that issue. Others had posed that same question and I learned that the ONLY real reason for their lower cost is that they didn't spend the millions of dollars in advertising that BOSE had. I love all BOSE products and have nothing but good things to say about them. If I HAD to choose something to take up with BOSE-it would only be the cost of their products. However, I decided to purchase the AIWA HP-CN6 Headphones for just under $50.00. I've had the headphones for almost 3 months and they have done nothing but continually impress me. In my opinion, the AIWA HP-CN6 Over-The-Ear Headphones are outstanding in every sense of the word. I wanted to write a review that would help others with their decision on whether or not to purchase these. In addition, there are sites like [...] that will allow you to read reviews from consumers and compare the competitive prices for them. There is plenty of very technical information that you can read about them. My intention is to allow you read all of that and then to listen to a consumer that has used them for 3 months-on an almost everyday usage. I consider them to be very comfortable and attractive-as attractive as headphones can come! The only issue that I have had with them is that sometimes you may hear a hissing sound. In my own experience, however, that has been transient and would not be a huge factor in my decision making process. If you're looking for a good set of headphones that can cancel out most noise, the AIWA HP-CN6 Headphones are a Consumer Best Buy. [...] Decent noise reduction headphones, rebranded Sony, great at the price Summary: Great noise reduction headphones for the money. Not as good as my current favorites, Sennheiser PXC-250s (which I also own). Also not as good as $300 Bose cans. But very capable. Good reduction of low frequency steady noise (which is all that any active noise reduction phones can properly deal with). Reasonably comfortable. Construction seems a bit on the cheap side, but they haven't broken yet. For sound quality, they are reasonably good compared to other noise reduction headphones, but mediocre compared to good non-noise reduction headphones. Typical story there. Note that the predecessor model to these, the Aiwa HP-CN5, were basically identical to the Sony MDR-NC5, but the Aiwa were about half the price. (Sony owns AIWA, and on the back of the HP-CN6 package you'll even see a (c) Sony notice). As the HP-CN6 is a model upgrade from the HP-CN5/MDR-NC5, there is no reason in the world to buy MDR-NC5 given the major price difference. Strengths: The battery fits in the headphone band, which means no second in-line box to lug around. That's a BIG convenience compared to things like Sennheiser PXC-250 or Bose. Very inexpensive for the quality. Fold down into relatively compact size. Excellent noise reduction. Decent (but not amazing) sound. Certainly good enough for any environment where you'd want to use noise reducing phones. Weaknesses: Not the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. OK, but not great. Seemingly cheap construction (but haven't had any problems yet). Better sound quality options are available at similar or lower prices if noise-reduction is not important to you.

Great Earbuds With Incredible Sound When I bought these earbuds, I didn't expect much, but these surprised me with their full-bodied, wonderfully rich sound. They have very-noticeable, deep bass which won't drown out your awesome mids and highs. The tremble is unbeatable at this price. This is probably because of their frequency range, 12 to 22,000 Hz. Most earbuds around this price don't have that good of frequency response. If you're wondering what frequency response is, well it's the sound they capture and put into your ears. The lower Hz means the bass. The higher Hz means the highs. They also have a neodymium magnet, one of the best you can buy. What a magnet does is they determine how good the overall sound quality is. These earbuds also have a silent cap, a cap with no outside holes, just the holes you hear sound out of. This means you won't have to turn up the volume on your player so much, and that you don't hear much outside sound either. I think this is great for mowing or any other noisy activity. They also come with a nice twist-up, compact case. I can slip these headphones easily into my pocket or anywhere else. These earbuds don't have the best comfort but, they're very comfortable when it comes to earbuds when I use the earpads. On top of it all, the quality is the best thing about these earbuds. Best ear-bud phones I've had so far, great volume boost Last month I lost my loyal Aiwa earphones, and started looking for a replacement. Nowadays all the stores are selling ugly clip-on phones, which I hate. Finally, I found the Sony MDR-E829V at a local store. I was attracted by the classic ear-bud design and the inline volume control, so I bought it. What a great buy. This is the best pair of earphones I've ever owned, even besting my previous Aiwa ones (which were 50% cheaper, though). Earlier this year I bought a different Sony ear-bud set and hated it, but this one is so much better. Sound from my MP3 player is crisp and clear, with lots of good-quality bass. The best feature is the inline volume control. I have some audiobook MP3s which used to sound soft on the Aiwa and my Koss audiophile headphones, but I had to actually turn down the volume on these Sony earphones! I reall love the MDR-E829V and highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for ear-bud phones. In fact I'm buying two more pairs as back-ups. Astounding sound from these inexpensive buds!! I read the Amazon reviews for these Sony ear-buds and decided to buy them after my daughter stole the ear-buds that came with my Rio Cali MP3 player. Those ear-buds, which hooked on to your ear with a special clip, sounded OK. After receiving my Sony MDR-E829V ear-buds which I bought on sale at Amazon for $12.62 I was more than skeptical about their quality especially since they are cheap. To say that I was stunned after trying them out is a gross understatement. They sound SPECTACULAR! I am far from a newcomer to quality audio and I own some first-rate equipment but you have to wonder why anyone would pay hundreds of dollars for a pair of top audio headphones when a $12 pair of ear-buds will blow your socks off. They provide deep solid bass (surprise!) and a full clean range of frequency. Aside from a built in volume control Sony provides a cheap but quite convenient plastic case that allows you to quickly roll the whole thing up and pack it away neatly. The unit also comes with foam covers for the ear-piece which makes it easier to lock them into your ear. The Sony MDR-E829V Fontopia ear-bud headphones are a superb buy but be forewarned that in the ear buds take a bit of getting used to. Once you find the best way to place them in your ear they are quite comfortable and you will truly marvel at the sound they put out. Indeed, this may be the best buy to be had in the audio world today (no joke!).

I won't let them go Ahh this makes me sad. I first bought a pair of these at best buy years ago, and instantly fell in love. The problem now is nobody sells these in their stores anymore, no big box stores, or even the sony stores sell them, so this was the last place I could find them, so I bought several pairs. The main reason I like these is comfort. I am someone who hates earbud headphones, and dislike anything touching the top of my head, so these were perfect. Since these are not studio headphones, you can't expect studio quality sound, however they produce amazing sound for what they are. High sounds aren't too tin sounding, there is plenty of bass. I listen to many different types of music, and they all sound great on these headphones. However, I am on my 4th pair of these, while the form factor of the actual headphones are great, the cord seems to get a beating. Now I do wear my headphones everywhere I go, and I am rough on them, but I would expect them to last a bit longer. Very good These are very good headphones for the money. They are comfortable for relatively long-duration wear in contrast to earbuds, which can become uncomfortable more quickly. These come with extra foam ear covers, which is nice since they can become worn and tear after long use. The jack will fit an iPod. Very good sound but... I bought these headphones for my ipod to use while working out. They are very comfortable and the sound quality is very good for phones of this price. After six months the left ear phone stopped working for no apparent reason at all. If not for the short life span I would buy these again. Jim in Maine
